I'm trying to find my dad's iroc z28. I'm unsure of the year, I think an 87. Currently the information at my disposal are his death certificate, his date of birth, SSN, and of course date of death, and that the car was sold to pay off some of his debts. Being 13 at the time I didn't have the foresight to write down the VIN the last time I saw that car. I figured I could hit up the DOT with his death cert. and SSN and they'd be able to look up the VIN, I'd hire a private investigator to look up the current owner and act as a go-between to see if it was for sale, done deal easy peasy right?
Well, no. The DOT only keeps records for 5 years. The local PD had records on him, but no vehicle info. State patrol was the same. Carfax said they can't help me, but they're going to ask around and see if anyone has any ideas and call me back. Dealership suggested warranty or financing info. Chevy has no warranty info that old. Trying to call around and see where he financed it through was also a non-starter.
So I figured I'd ask here. Given the information that I have, does anyone have any ideas for me, or is all hope lost?

Message: I'm trying to find my dad's iroc z28. I can't remember the model year, but I think it was an 87. I have nothing to go by except his DOB, death certificate, and SSN. A call to the Wisconsin dept. of transportation was a dead end, as they told me they only keep records back for 5 years. I tried the local police department, and they did have him on record for tickets, but only his information, not anything regarding the vehicle. I got the same result from the state patrol. Currently I'm waiting on a call back from carfax to see if they have any ideas for me, but it doesn't look promising. I've been looking through any old photos or papers I can find of his, but I've come across no copies of the title, license renewals, tickets, or anything. I did find a fuzzy picture of the interior and the fuzzy dice, which of course is no help whatsoever.
Do any of you here have any ideas?

Message: I have been wondering is any way of finding my first car a 1969 Mach 1
I owned the car from 1977 to 1980 and then sold it because I needed a truck at the time and regretted it almost immediatly.
It was sold appx 1980 to a guy who bought it for his daughter and he lived in Bay Shore Long Island NY
Sadly I tossed out all my old reg's so I no longer know the VIN, I tried calling my old ins company but they didn't have records going back that far.
The car back then was a White 1969 Mach 1 w/ louvers on the back window. It also had a non functional scoop on the hood which was black along with part of the hood. The hood also had lock down posts on the front that a pin slipped through to hold the hood down.
I believe it had a 351 Windsor motor w/ Auto trans and the interior was black and it had a fold down rear seat.
The body was decent back in the 70s and
the only body work I recall back then was a perfectly done and painted fiberglass repair on the rear area behing the passenger rear wheel (lower rear quater?) that had a small opening there shaped like an elongated triangular from a small piece that must have broken off .
I figure it's pretty hopeless but thought I would post incase anyone had some ideas.

Message: I'm looking for a very special 1966 Chevrolet C-10 2WD pickup, standard cab, standard box pickup with a 283 V8 and 4-speed on the floor. Medium blue with tan bench interior. My grandfather originally owned this pickup using it to deliver mail, then handed it down to my father in the early '80's. In 1992, my father died while tinkering on this truck in his shop from CO2 poisoning, trying to get it into running condition for me as I was getting close to having my drivers license. My mother immediately decided to sell this pickup to my uncle, who in turn, sold it to another party. My uncle doesn't have any records of who he sold this truck to but any help would be greatly appreciated. I think about the '66 quite often (and do have some good pics of it) and now that I have a three-month-old son I would love to be able to pass down to him this same piece of family history that my father wanted me to have. Last owners were the late Gaylen Opdahl (Valley City, ND) and my uncle Dennis Tweed (then of Page, ND and now of Fargo, ND). Again, any help would be much appreciated! oppie96@msn.com

Message: I am trying to find my Ford Mustangs I sold during college (in the 1980's in Bloomington, Indiana)- I knew they were special but I was a poor college student. I have always wanted to find them. I sold one to "The Mustang Man" in Spencer, Indiana (as he was known), and the other to a stranger- both sold around the Bloomington, Indiana area between 1983-1989.
1968 baby blue 2 door Ford Mustang, tan interior
1964 1/4 Convertible, orange with black top Ford Mustang, black interior, when sold it has all the original parts to include the motor- it was a steal for the guy in Spencer that bought it. I knew that but I needed the money.
I always always regretted having to sell these two Mustangs and my gosh, I loved them.
Any chance you can help me find them?

Message: Steve- I'm currently in a position to find my parents' "cars that got away". But I need some help, I want to be sneaky about it so I need to know what specific information I need to hunt them down! My father had to sell his "69 1st edition body style the my uncle Jimmy Webb (the song writer) gave to him for graduation... he couldn't afford it! He sold it in El reno and I think he saw it years later in Oklahoma city. It was baby blue.
My mother's father sold her fast back GTO "69 mustang ( i think it had a shelby cobra engine) but it wasn't painted like a shelby, it was avocado, and got her a hideous station wagon to take to college!!! He didn't want her to, i don't know, die? They lived in Boise City, OK.
I don't know how to get any more information without letting them know i'm looking for their cars! Can you help?
Thank you

Message: In the early to mid 80's I had a 1969 GTO. It was a pretty cool car. I was told it had once been used at car shows and had a lot of layers of custom paint. The base was black with purple pin striping. It had wide orange to yellow strips running horizontally the full length of the car. It had a spoiler on the back like a Judge but I don't think it was actually a judge. (remember checking the VIN in college). It had tan interior and a Hurst shifter. It also had an air shock system to raise and lower the back end. The tires were so wide they would rub when you turned. I'd love to have that car back. When I bought it the 400 was already taken out and it had a bored out 326 in it. (if I remember correctly). The car had been wrecked once when I had it so the hood and driver side door were tight. The custom paint and alligator cracks all over.
While the car had its problems I'd really like to have it back. I sold it to a guy in Kennsington, KS. He had a Trans Am and was going to college and didn't want to drive the TA back and forth to school. I sold it in about 1985?

Message: While I was stationed in Camp Lejune, NC as a United states Marine, I took my V-8 powered Chevy Luv to a local mechanic named Chris ?. He was a very large guy. I doubt his health would see him alive today. He had a black 67 or 68 Camaro in his shop that he drag raced. I asked him to take the 60 over 327 out of my truck and put a stock 350 in it. This was to be an even trade. I got orders to the Persian Gulf WAR and had to go. I left my wife and newborn home in Jacksonville, NC. After being gone for a year in Kuwait, I returned to find my truck had no motor in it at all. Chris to my motor out and sold it but never put A new one in it. I then found out that I was going to be having a second child and needed a car with more room. As Chris proceeded to drag his feet on fixing my truck so I could sell it, he let me borrow a beat up old station wagon. As my luck would have it, I had my second child and I also got orders to California. I had to go and Chris new that. I had to leave the truck that I spent 3 years of high school and a tone of money building behind. I called Chris several times after I left and he never returned my calls. I still have the title and registration to this day. I just want to find it and bring it home.

Message: I'm trying to find out any information I can on a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS that I owned from 1971-1975. I purchased this car before I could legally drive when I was 15 from a used car lot on Church street in Burlington, NC. It was originally Fanthom Green (dark metallic) with black interior, bucket seats, a rare 3 speed Muncie manual stick shift in a console between the buckets, am/fm factory stereo, no a/c, and factory rally wheels. It had a 396 ci engine with 325 hp. In 1972 I had a custom paint job done to it by world renown artist Wayne Jarrett of Greensboro, NC. The base color was gold with custom graphics on the hood, sides, and trunk lid. Cragar s/s mags were also added and 10" Mickey Thompson's in the rear. The engine was rebuilt and bored out to 409 ci and loaded with extras. There wasn't another Chevelle in the state of NC that looked like this one. She was one HOT ride! This was the way it looked when I traded it in for a VW in 1975. Several years after I traded it I heard a rumor that the person who bought it from the dealer wreaked it, but I was never able to confirm that rumor to be true. Now in my fifties I find myself wondering if it is possible to locate her. I don't have or remember the VIN # but the car was registered in NC in my name from 1971-1975. Any help or advice out there would be very much appreciated.

The front seat had been customized so that you only had to pull a pin out on each side of the seat and it would fold down to allow for sleeping! The original owner (I was #2) did that for his frequent fishing trips. When I sold it, mid to late 1980s, the back windshield was all but covered with punk rock bumper stickers. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I loved that car!!!!

Interior is a maroon color. It was originally "Wimbleton White" The car itself rolled off the Ford assembly line in New Jersey. My folks bought it in 1968 (2nd owners) and it got passed down to me. It's changed hands between my best friend and me to keep it moving and out of the California DMV's sight while it was restored. It mostly remained, and registered "INOPERABLE" according to the CA DMV. The time of losing this car is around 1994 or 1995.

Mark had a falling out with the garage he worked on the car at so I don't think they'd know where he is. I was hoping to find this TA, the VIN is 1G2FW87F0FN224029. Message: I've been on the lookout for my first car since the mid 70's. It was a White, 1959 Buick Electra 225, 4 door sedan in very good original condition when it was purchased from a couple on Cottonwood Drive in Richardson, Texas in the fall of 1972. My parents were the second owners of this car and they purchased it in the mid 60's from Orand Buick (now Ewing Buick) in Dallas. They called her Nellybelle and she still had the chrome, Orand nameplate on the back when it was sold in '72. She was originally owned by the Orand family and if I'm not mistaken, it was driven by Fin Ewing's grandmother from 1958 until my parents bought it in '65 or '66 as I recall. If I ever win the lottery, you can bet I'll be willing to pay far more than it could ever be worth to anyone else except maybe the Ewing or Orand families! If you think you might know where she is, I'd sure love to see it again! Good luck to everyone else trying to find the ones that got away!

Message: On August 7, 1965 my father purchased a brand new 1965 Oldmobile Cutlass Holiday Coupe, at Biddolph Oldsmobile in Phoenix. It was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. The color was a misty steel blue on the bottom with a white hard top. It had the upgraded option of "All Chrome Package", including the wire spoke wheel covers, with the knock off caps. The interior was also that misty blue, with bucket seats, the shift on the floor, and a Tac in the middle. In March of 1966 my father, at the age of 34 died suddenly. In 1969 my mothers new husband of 3 years at that point, traded our 1965 Oldsmobile in on a 1969 Dodge Pickup. About a year later, I saw my car driving down the road at the corner of Boulder Highway and Charleston Blvd., in Las Vegas. That was the LAST time I saw her. Since 1969 I've wanted our Olds., back in the family where she belongs. Her Title Number in 1965 was: 4023553. The title also offered the following numbers: P-389185, and 7KX-680, and once again the VIN is 338375Z133160. THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU who took time to read my comments. I can't begin to thank you enough. PLEASE, let me know if ANYONE knows anything about her whereabouts. She needs to come home if at all possible. Thank you all, Greg.

It had the 2.3 liter four and a four speed manual transmission. I sold it to a guy here in Washington. At the time it had damage to the drivers side front corner that as a teen I didn't have the money to fix. The car was purchased on Halloweeen 1990 from the Bill Pierre Ford bullpen where it was waiting a trip to the auction. I would love to find this car again.

The car was purchased new by my stepfather, Edmond Way, now deceased; sold to me around 1985. Car was originally equipped with a 383 2 bbl, 727 Torqueflite, copper paint, black interior and aftermarket A/C. I would very much like to own this car again; it had more sentimental value than I ever thought it would.

Message: Hello- I am looking for a 1970 Nova Super sport. It was black and had a black vinyl top, 4 speed hurst shifter, 350 small block, posi traction, original ss rims, black busket seats, chrome side pipes, and my uncle was a mechanic and he installed an A/C unit under the dash on the passenger side. The black paint had 3 coats of pearl and the small flames that were painted on the side also had pearl in it. The rear shocks were Monroe air shocks. I took it to college with me in KY and had to sell it because it was constantly breaking down on me and I could not afford to fix it any longer. It also had a small chrome steering wheel. I sold it in 1984 to a car dealership in Richmond, KY. I would really like to find this first love of mine. I hated selling it but had no choice, would really like to find this gem.

Message: I am looking for my 1971 Dodge Charger that I stupidly sold back in the late 80's. The vin # is WH23G1A173602. It was dark Metallic Brown with a 1/2 Vinyl roof that was black. Interior was black vinyl, bench seat, automatic shift on the column. I believe it had designs etched into the small triangular rear windows. It was traded in by the guy I sold it to to a dealer in Iselin, NJ called Bell Ford, I called them and tried to get them to trace what happened to it. All I could find out was that one of the owners drove it for a while. I checked with a friend at DMV and found out that it was last titled in June of 1993 in NJ and it had like 400k miles on it. I have regretted selling this car since I sold it. The last time I spoke with the guy I sold it to years ago, he regretted selling it also. It was a great car. I really hope it's still out there somewhere and not cubed in a scrap yard. Any help is appreciated.

It was a local area dealer special edition (similar to the earlier High County Special Mustangs in Colorado). This one was painted bright green (think John Deere) with a thin, white pin stripe running just under the side windows. It had a badge with "4.2 Liter Special" right in front of the quarter side scoop. It had a non-functional hood scoop painted body color. 250 c.i. inline 6 cylinder engine with a 3-speed manual tranny. Black vinyl standard interior. I'll add pictures to my 'Lost' vehicle section. The car was purchased from a used car dealer in Beaufort SC with the help of my father in law. I paid $3500 for it than...I was awesome..but with my son coming I could not afford to restore it so I sold it to a Marine from Paris Island. I do not have the Vin and Name of the buyer. Message: Hello all,
I wanted to take a moment to address some of the lingering confusion regarding the way the site is set up, especially as it relates to finding the "lost" or "found" cars that are listed within the site.
First, much like the way the old site was set up many years ago, there is no "lost" or "found" cars page, per se. Cars can be tagged as such, but the site is not set up so that people can see every single "lost" car on the site all at once.
Now, if you're looking for your specific former 1965 Pontiac GTO and it's not in the system, but you're curious and would like to see a list of all the lost 1965 Pontiac GTOs on the site, you can do that, too, on the Search page. But see a list for every, single "lost" car at once, regardless of make, model year, etc.? The site is not currently set up to allow for that kind of search, which is not to say, however, that I wouldn't consider revising it in the future to accomodate that.
As always, if you'd like to LIST a car on the site or contact the owner of a car listed here, you must become a registered member so that you maintain your own information. Searching, however, is open to anyone, whether or not they are registered.

Message: I left a posting several years ago and then forgot about this site. I believe I was looking for the Nova I had in High School. 1968, 307 with 3-speed on the floor. It was painted White--a Corvette color reccommended to me and painted by Jerry Douglass. Oh yeah, blue interior, bench seat. I sold the car to Richard Hatfield in 1976--I think. I distinguishing characteristic was the Camaro hood louvers. The four squares per louver. Most Novas have the typical SS variety with the ribs running lenghthwise. I've got the VIN somewhere. When I find it, I'll put it in a subsequent posting. This site is a great idea!

Message: Regarding the Login button: Read the text at the top of the page, but to Login you must first register with the site if you are a new user (meaning, you have not submitted a post to me at the old site. Those who have submitted previous to the new site lauch will receive a separate welcome email with a temporary password, etc.) Please note: You don't have to join the site to search. The Search button above is a public search button that allows you to search the database - if you find a vehicle that interests you and you want to contact that person, THEN you must join the site and login to contact them. Hope that clears things up. Thanks - Keith.

Message: Hey Pomona folks, do you remember an orange 68 Mustang CJ racing at local strips and probably on the streets of SoCal. Orange makes it almost a one of kind. I was wrecked hard prior to 1979 and rebuilt with 351W drive train. I can follow ownership back to 1979 Monclair HS shop class. Any help would be appreciated.
